The Out of the Blocks   Maths and Science Series for London 2012 is proving very popular in schools. So if you’re still looking for a STEM Club activity with the prospect of you and your team winning Olympic event tickets, there are still 2 weeks left to enter a team in the Maths and Science Challenge 2012 closing date for entering a team is 15 May 2012!

The Challenge is for teams of 4 to 6 students to plan a major sporting event in your local area, using their maths and/or science skills to create a great presentation for STEM Challenge local-area judging between 21 and 30 May.

So effectively you have until almost the end of May to come up with a winning project!

Linear AQA GCSE Maths: no sweat!

July 8, 2011 Leave a comment

The ‘news’ that all GCSE maths courses taught from September 2012 are to be linear, won’t be a problem for your AQA resourcing with Longman!

Longman’s AQA GCSE Maths series has, from the start, come with Linear Schemes of Work alongside the Modular SoWs – all free on our website!

Our very popular textbooks are structured around the Modular Units, but when you transfer to AQA’s Linear spec, you’ll find it really easy to adjust your teaching order for Linear.

If you’re already well into using our resources with AQA Linear, do please leave us a comment below!

With two more AQA GCSE Maths 2010 Unit papers taken this week, are your students feeling more confident with AO2 and AO3 questions?

If you’re looking for a bit more practice on sequences and proof for Unit 2 Higher, here’s a FREE Topic Test from our AQA GCSE Maths Assessment Pack.

And here are the answers

How did you find our practice papers?

Back in October we posted a free AQA GCSE Unit 1 Practice paper plus answers.  Last month we posted a Unit 2 paper.  They were written specially to support the new specification.

How did you find these papers?  How have your students been finding the exams, and how have they coped with the new AO3 problem-solving questions?

By the way…

Our Assessment Pack (RRP £149.99) contains two complete sets of Linear and Modular practice papers, as well as a bank of exam-style questions organised by topic.  We’re running a 30% discount for our subscribers for online purchases before 30th April.  If you’re interested, “Leave a comment” on this post and we’ll send you a voucher.
